JobMaker Hiring Credit Scheme.

Eligible employers can now register for the Jobmaker Hiring Credit scheme with the ATO.

The scheme applies to employees starting employment between 7 October 2020 and 6 October 2021.

Once registered, eligible employers can claim the JobMaker Hiring Credit payment for each JobMaker period. You can make a claim for the first JobMaker period from 1 February 2021 with payments being made every 3 months in arrears.

To complete your registration for the JobMaker Hiring Credit, employers must provide their:

  • baseline headcount

This information can be provided through either:

  • ATO online services
  • ATO business portal
  • Hall Browns Accountants

The scheme will see eligible employers able to access up to $200 per week for each eligible additional employee aged 16 to 29 years, and up to $100 per week for each eligible additional employee aged 30 to 35 years.

To be eligible, the employee will need to have worked for a minimum of 20 hours per week, averaged over a quarter, and received the JobSeeker payment, Youth Allowance (other) or Parenting Payment for at least one month out of the three months prior to when they are hired.

Employers cannot be receiving JobKeeper payments at the same time and must also meet a number of eligibility conditions, including being registered for pay-as-you-go (PAYG) withholding, hold an Australian business number (ABN), be up to date with their tax lodgement obligations, and be reporting through single touch payroll (STP).
